London to be hit by a wave of models promoting #safetanning with a black ribbon campaign

Models, the world’s biggest ever bottle of self-tan, thousands of free bottles of tan, all being led by an inspirational cancer survivor to raise awareness of safe tanning.

TanOrganic, the world’s first ever Eco-certified self-tanning brand, want to end the practice of dangerous sun tanning once and for all by raising awareness. In a bid to spread the important message that overexposure to the sun is unsafe, the collaboration will be organising a day of fun events throughout the capital on Thursday 13th August from 11am – 4.30pm.

In aid of the campaign, a group of stunning bikini clad models, including Miss Bikini Ireland – Judy Fitzgerald, will be flying into Gatwick from Dublin, shunning the sun and daring to bare it with fake tan. They will then travel by train to London Victoria before going by tube to Bond Street Station and walking down to Oxford Street to Oxford Circus for a photo call at 11.15am. After that it’s a fun filled trike ride complete with an impressive 20 foot inflatable TanOrganic self-tan bottle, stopping off at Carnaby Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Leicester Square and Covent Garden.

The event will also see the biggest ever self-tanning giveaway in the world with over 5,000 free samples being given to passers-by in a bid to encourage safe tanning.

Top blogger and cancer survivor Eimear Coghlan will lead the trike procession, and the event is also getting huge support from the UK cancer community. A professional flash mob team will be popping up throughout the route to add an extra dimension of fun and their support to the event.

Noelle O’Connor, founder of TanOrganic, says:

“Although the dangers of a real tan are well documented, people are still doing it, putting their health and lives at risk. Things are improving – now that TanOrganic is launching in 200 Boots UK stores, more people will be able to pick up a bottle when out in town. Our day of fun demos is about spreading the word and putting safe tanning on everyone’s agenda. “

Eimear Coghlan, Irish Blogger, further comments:

“I love TanOrganic as it’s all natural, organic and nourishes your skin while giving you a fab glowing tan. While undergoing breast cancer treatment, the strong inside you needs to be mirrored on the outside and TanOrganic helps me achieve this.

I’m a Totes Amazebald Chemo Queen; my message is to celebrate your head and wear it with pride. Once you own your look, rock your look and love your look, then you’re ready to face anything, even cancer.”

Lily Child, Beauty Innovation Buying Manager at Boots UK, adds:

“We are so excited to be launching TanOrganic from #BeautyFinds in Boots UK stores. Beauty Finds brings our customers the latest in product innovation. TanOrganic has some amazing natural products that don’t leave that biscuit-y fake tan smell!”

Eimear will be available for comment throughout the day on-route on Thursday and for interviews throughout Friday 14th August.
