Hindsight is a wonderful thing. If something untoward happens to you on a day or night out, ‘what if?’ is a question family and friends ask. With SafeKnight, launched today, you can have peace of mind that your family and the police can get access to important location based visual information of your whereabouts past and present!

Simple to use, the SafeKnight app enables the user to take a photo, for example of a license plate, street sign, bar name or simply of friends which is automatically stored on a secure database paired with their unique ID, time, date and more importantly the GPS location of where it was taken.

With the knowledge safely stored, should any criminal activity occur, police and family members can gain access to highly specific, secure data – saving on vital time in critical moments! On top of this, it can also help the user gain confidence and independence in the more vulnerable situations of their daily routine.

SafeKnight can be used in a number of everyday situations such as chronicling movements on a night out, using taxi services, travelling abroad, meeting new people and even internet dating.

Chris Hawthorn, creator of the app and founder of ‘The SafeKnight Foundation’, explains: “Following a high profile and very tragic abduction and murder last year in a nearby town, I was moved to launch The SafeKnight Foundation and to develop the SafeKnight app. With the support of an England footballer and the victim’s parent, we aim to enable people to lead a safe and independent lifestyle with the knowledge that they have a pre-emptive safety measure at their fingertips for life’s routine vulnerable situations.”

The app is now available to download via the Apple App Store, Google Play, BlackBerry App World, and Nokia’s Ovi Store. Sends image file via 3G/Wi-Fi therefore users with a data allowance will not incur any costs.

About The SafeKnight Foundation

The SafeKnight Foundation was formed following a tragic murder case in 2011. The case inspired the creation of the organisation because the founder, Chris Hawthorn, felt passionately about not only helping to prevent future cases, but also supporting victims of serious crimes.

Chris has committed 25% of all profits made from the sale of the app to The SafeKnight Foundation. These funds will be bequeathed to a number of charities, specifically those providing support or focussing on crime prevention. Crimestoppers, Victim Support, Rape Crisis, and The Suzy Lamplugh Trust are some of the intended beneficiaries from funds raised by The SafeKnight Foundation.
