Lola, my daughter is almost a month old now and we were just washing her with water for the first few weeks but now we feel its time to move on to using some high quality skin care products on her.
Because she needs her nappy changed very often, she gets wiped a lot and that can sometimes make the skin irritated. She hasn't had nappy rash or anything that looks bad yet, but we thought it was better to start using something now to keep it at bay.
I had heard great things about Weleda's baby range and they have won many awards for best baby skin care range and some of the products individually (no less than 7 of them I must add) have won awards too. 70% of Midwives in Germany rate Weleda's baby products as the best range they have used which says a lot!
There are so many great things to say about Weleda, the companies ethics, the ingredients (mostly bio dynamic and organic - non toxic what so ever), the low and affordable price point, the packaging, the fact that no product disappoints (well I can certainly say that!) and that the products are so intensive that only a little bit is needed. And this nappy cream definitely fits that bill. The cream spreads such a long way it has a very thick consistency and you always end up needing less than you use (think half a pea size!) it has a very faint pretty scent (it's important not to have strong scents for babies skin, only a little bit of natural fragrance is needed) and makes the skin even softer than it was before.
Each product contains two main ingredients: Calendula and Sweet Almond Oil. Calendula has very strong medicinal properties but is also very gentle on the skin. It has fast acting healing properties and is also antiseptic - so this ingredient alone is so beneficial for babies skin.
Sweet Almond oil is used because it is very soothing and softening - it's also not super stimulating, in fact its known to be one of the least stimulating oils so again, essential for babies sensitive skin.
It's priced at £6.95 which really is affordable price for everyone. It is also extremely long lasting so you won't need to buy this cream each month, more likely every 2 months perhaps longer.

This whole range is very impressive and I will be blogging about it over the coming weeks as I get around to using each item!
