Last year, I went through a really bad skin stage which showed itself in a form of acne. I was using too many different products (well it is part of my job you know!) and was not eating the best diet. Because of my health problems, I was craving sugar a lot and giving in to those cravings every day! My skin showed me that what I was putting inside my body was not agreeing with it.
I had tiny little bumps all over my face and I had a lot of trouble getting them to go away.
Because I am a big fan of Alva, I saw that they had a very detailed Problem Skin range. I had suffered with bad skin growing up, so much so that my little sister, called me Pizza Face for quite a few years. lol! She was right, I did look like a pizza, especially on the forehead where I constantly had little bumps. Years later, now with a much better knowledge of the skin, I realise that it was showing me how messed up my digestive system was. Back then, I used antibiotics and chemist type creams and even went through a stage of using Methylated spirits as a toner! eeeeekkkk!!
Anyway, with a need to sort my skin out, I wasn’t sure what I could do for it naturally. I did change my diet to help heal from within but I needed to use the right products for it. Everything else I had at home was too heavy.
I asked Nic from Alva what he thought I could do and he told me about Alva’s 100% natural yet very active and impressive Problem Skin range which he had great feedback from. He said that for the best results, I should try most of the products to work together as a proper treatment.
The whole range is based on Moroccan ‘Rasshoul’ Mud which is known for being highly effective for absorbing toxins from the skin and for also being incredibly healing. The Moroccans have used it for centuries. Rhassoul is something that was used when they had minimal access to water. You could clean yourself with it instead of having a shower or bath. They would just mix up some of the mud with a tiny bit of water, apply it to body parts (hair too), let it dry and then rinse off with a wet cloth, leaving their skin incredibly clean and soft. Impressive right?
The first product in the range I tried was the Cleansing Milk rrp £12.80. I used it morning and night to cleanse my face and absolutely loved it. The smell and texture is divine, creamy and thick! You don’t think that an acne type product would smell good but this one is gorgeous. It makes you feel pampered whilst still making sure your skin is perfectly clean, killing any germs on the surface. Because its a milk, it doesn’t strip the skin, but leaves it soft. I adore the red packaging of the range as well, it looks really nice in the bathroom when you have the whole set.
For skins that are really broken out, you could try the Mineral Cleansing Wash rrp £10.75 which looks just like thin runny grey mud! This is a product that can be left on the face for a bit longer to really absorb dirt and oil and if your back has broken out, leave this on after a warm shower and then remove with a warm cloth. It will help to really loosen any bacteria in the pores. I don’t love this product personally (I think I like ‘girlier’ products) but I don’t really need it because I just had tiny bumps rather than typical Acne which can be quite weepy and sore. Guys would love this cleanser though because, well, boys are boys and many have played around with mud when younger! Read more
