Karen Ranzi, speaker and author of Creating Healthy Children has written a ground breaking book. It appealed to me because of the Attachment Parenting subject which is something I feel very strongly about. It's the parenting method I will be using with my daughter, who is going to arrive in the next few weeks.
I first heard about it through a book by Dr Sears and has soon as I read what it stands for, I was hooked. It just made perfect sense to me, and why there are so many children growing up so unhappy because their parents do not use the Attachment Parenting method.
Karen too, strongly believes in this method as well and has used it on her children, ever since she too, discovered what the process was.

I am writing a book as many as you know, which will be out later this year and reading Karen's book made me realise I am on the right path with it, as we share very similar views. My book is more of a 'guide', covering lots of different subjects (not just for children by the way, but for people in general) but not in an extensive way, where as Karen's book is very thick (think like a dictionary!) and explains everything in great detail.
Karen must have researched for a very long time to get this book out there because its jam packed full of information covering all sorts of valuable topics.
Creating Healthy Children, has been supported and endorsed by many leading health experts. T Colin Campbell of famous book 'The China Study' says:
“Karen Ranzi has written a most important book, Creating Healthy Children, that is must reading. The scientific evidence is now clear that a plant based diet means optimal health, and the sooner young people are started on this diet, the better. The storyline in this book is personal, professional and very, very sensible.”
I don't think there is another book like this out there that covers sooo many subjects relating to children. Even if you don't want to feed your child 100% raw food, you will still learn how to incorporate healthy food into the diet and also learn about all the other lifestyle choices that can really affect children negatively. For me to review each chapter would take me almost a book in itself as there is so much to talk about but lets just say how impressive it is!
Personally, I don't think many parents to be or parents in general, really learn as much as they can in regards to the health and upbringing of their children. They don't research much themselves and instead let the mainstream media dictate to them what they should feed them and how they should medicate them. Too many children are being brought up with toxins in their bodies from harmful foods and medicines. It seems to be the 'norm' to give a child pharmaceuticals at the first sign of a fever, instead of letting the body do it's thing by healing because of the fever. Karen covers subjects like this too.
I think It's time to go back to nature and to use common sense in regards to children's health.
Karen has thought of everything in this book and what I love about it is she also accepts that children become teenagers and they may 'go off the rails' with their diet and she gives advice on what to do. She understands that part of being a teenager is being accepted and that peer pressure may mean that they can't keep up with the raw diet, it simply may not be 'cool'. Her own kids experienced this but now have all come back to eating this way because they learnt that they did not feel good eating other types of processed food.
I admire Karen as a mother for not forcing things on her kids - and letting them experience what they wanted.
Karen's book will have you fascinated by page one and it will be a book you can come back to time and time again if a problem arises. You will learn so much in this book, probably more than ever before and it may set you off on a completely different path in life, not just for your children, but also for your own health and other loved ones.
