Isn’t it time we rid ourselves of this toxic lifestyle?

“Unhealthy food choices result in toxins building up in our bodies – we can’t see them but they have a negative impact on our physical and mental health.” – Kim Pearson, leading nutritionist.

New research by digestive care experts, Renew Life, reveals that almost two-thirds of Brits are feeling depressed about their health (63%). More than half of people surveyed (58%) are failing to meet the recommended daily allowance of fruit and vegetables in their diet, with over a third (38%) opting to get through the week on a diet of convenience food and caffeinated drinks (56%).

The research, carried out on 1,000 people in the UK highlights the impact unhealthy habits are having on the nation’s health, with almost half of Brits claiming to regularly feel low in energy (46%), experience unexplained headaches (32%) and have difficulty losing extra weight (27%).

Toxic overload

“Headaches, low energy, irregular bowel movements and poor skin are all warning signs that our body is struggling to cope,” says leading nutritionist, Kim Pearson. “Our bodies are naturally designed to eliminate the toxins we consume from the food we eat, water we drink and our environment, but over time our body can begin to feel overwhelmed and we experience a toxic-overload.

In an attempt to rectify these health issues, over half of people are attempting extreme fad diets (63%), or failing to give-up unhealthy vices including caffeine (54%), sugar (41%) and alcohol (23%) in order to feel healthier (39%), address health worries (28%) or to cleanse and detoxify (10%).

Power of cleansing

Cleansing is when you support your body’s ability to detoxify itself,” explains Kim Pearson. “Many of us confuse cleansing with extreme fad diets and juice cleanses, which can do our bodies more harm than good. Eating lots of fresh un-processed food, getting plenty of fibre and drinking enough water is the first step, but often our bodies need a helping hand to flush out the build-up which is where a cleansing programme can help.”

Renew Life is launching two cleansing programmes designed to stimulate the cleansing and detoxification process of the body’s 7 channels of elimination: the liver, lungs, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, and lymphatic system.

  • First Cleanse is a 15 day all natural herbal cleansing programme to stimulate

the elimination of toxins, pollutants and free radicals. It is a gentle yet effective formula for the ‘first time’ or ‘sensitive’ cleanser.

  • CleanseSMART is a 30 day advanced programme recommended for individuals who have cleansed before or those who want a deeper longer cleanse.

I loved taking these products. I really noticed that my bowels moved a lot more – something was indeed being shifted! It’s very simple to include in your daily lifestyle.   I would definitely take them again, and in fact think its a good idea to do every three months or so. The ingredients are proven and effective to help the body detox.

Both First Cleanse (RRP £23.49) and CleanseSMART (£29.99) can be purchased from various health food stores including Whole Foods and As Nature Intended. To find your nearest stockist visit
