The Best Toxic Free Hair Dyes - Surya Henna Hair Colouring

Try these amazing Hair Dye's! Surya Henna has developed a product based on natural and organic ingredients that containnourishing herbs and fruits from India and the Brazilian Amazon Forest. It colours 100% of white hair on the first application and does so without damaging the hair structure. It is the only hair colouring product with organic extracts that treat the hair and scalp. It conditions, moisturizes and revitalizesthe hair while colouring, leaving it much softer and shinier.

I have been searching for a really great zero toxin hair dye for a long time. I have always used 'safe' ones for the last 10 years or so, but they still had some chemical content in them. But when I fell pregnant, I have avoided those types of colours as well. I have been trying many different brands and none have been really that good. I have quite a bit of grey hair coming through these days you see, after years of stress! In fact I saw grey hair first appear in my early 20's.

I have been told lots of good things about Henna that its much better for your hair and the coverage is great, but what lots of people don't realise is that all henna unless its been organically grown, is full of heavy metals, which can mean that the product is just as bad as mainstream hair colourants.  Heavy metals being applied to your scalp is a big fat no no and a real worry if you use them often.

There are quite a few mineral and totally natural hair dye brands out there but until recently, there were none that would cover my grey hairs. In fact, I would leave them on for ages and nope there would be no coverage. So frustrating that I let my hair grow without colour for ages and was walking around with terrible grey roots.

I have been researching some alternative safe colours for my book thats out later this year and came across the 'Surya Henna Hair Colours' which are made by a brazilian company.  They sounded absolutely amazing and claimed to cover grey hair 100% from the first application.  And they did it with organic henna and a whole bunch of plant extracts and essential oils.  Was this too good to be true I wondered?

I ordered a dark brown colour from Amazon.

I had a good read about what was in the colours and thought 'well if this doesn't work, nothing will!'

When the colour arrived at first I thought the bottle was too small and that it wouldnt cover all of my hair.

But I was very surprised that with a proper application process (like the hair dressers do, using the clips and parting properly and applying with a brush) only a little is needed. What I noticed straight away as well was that there was no stinky smell. In fact, it actually smelt quite nice because of all of the plant extracts and essential oils. Have a look and see whats in the colours!

- Henna: Coats each strand with a protective film
- Genipap: An Amazon fruit with colouring properties
- Arnica: Stimulating and healing properties
- Yarrow: Acts as an analgesic and bactericide
- Chamomile: Skin protecting, calming and decongestant properties
- Mallow: Emollient, calming and protective properties
- Amla: Rich in vitamin C
- Guarana: Hair stimulant
- Hazelnut: Softens and lubricates
- Carrot: Softens and protects the skin
- Assai: Moisturizing, emollient and remineralizing properties
- Juazeiro: Tensoactive agent, anti-inflammatory and peripheral circulation stimulant

- Aloe Vera: Moisturizes, softens and imparts emollience

What pretty amazing ingredients! And remember the product is 100% natural and the henna is heavy metal free.

After applying the product, which was so easy to do, it is a liquid yes, but I had no drips on the floor and it was easy to remove from around my hair line and I noticed how easy it was to apply over the greys. My hair just absorbed it so well. I put the cap over the hair and let it go to work, anticipating good results and also worried it might not work on my hair for some reason.

I kept it on for 40 minutes and expected my hair to have sort of dried out under the cap like most colours do. But nope it felt exactly the same as it did after I applied the colour, no drying of the hair at all.

I washed out the colour and could not believe how soft my hair felt. I am talking about silky soft hair that I had never had before! Colours always do seem to make hair feel soft, but none were ever like this!

I had to apply conditioner to seal in the colour and then towel dried my hair off and parted it at the roots so I could see if it had coloured my greys. Yippeeee! It did and in the most amazing way - just like a salon colour except way better because I knew that there was no way the product was going to harm me, my baby in my tummy and the water ways either!

The colour is just amazing and now that its dry, I am absolutely thrilled.  Its so shiny and looks all the same colour and just feels incredible.

I cannot believe its taken me this long to find these colours - they are truly incredible!  Now, with Henna, you have to continue using it apparently if you do start. I think a reaction can occur when you have used that and then go back to using chemical based colours, so think wisely before you use this colour. Ask yourself, am I happy to just use semi permanent colours? Will I be happy to continue using this brand?

If the answer is yes then go for it!

These colours wont last you like normal semi permanents do - which is up to 16 washes. These only last up to 7 washes, which is the only negative aspect of this product. But the fact that it actually conditions your hair, colours it beautifully, is 100% natural, is mostly organic - well I think these benefits outweigh the amounts of washes you get out of it. It was such a dream to apply and the fact that its not damaging at all is why I won't be using anything else ever again.

Honestly I could not be more thrilled with this product!!

You can purchase from Amazon  or just google the brand and find an online store that sells them.  The colours are priced at £8.95 and there are 15 shades to choose from. You can see the colour chart at the bottom of this post.

Surya Hair Colours contain NO:
