When you think of a brain injured child, you tend to think that there is nothing which can be done to help them improve aspects of their lives.  The Medical world say that there isn't much to be done, so parents go away thinking that this is just how their kids are always going to be. I thought this too.  But now, after meeting Linda from Advance Centres, I am blown away by what can actually be done if parents and carers know how. A truly incredible story.

By Dr. Mercola One of my own recent interests has been brain plasticity - the ability of your brain to recover, repair, and regain functionality that had previously been lost. This idea conflicts with the conventional view that once you lose brain function, it's permanently lost. Dr. Daniel Amen is a physician and board-certified psychiatrist. He's written fiveNew York Times bestselling books, and is the medical director of the Amen Clinics in Newport Beach in San Francisco, California; Bellevue, Washington; Reston, Virginia; Atlanta, Georgia; and New York City.

Stress may be killing us as a society, and some of that might very well have to do with all the pressure to FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS on the task at hand. Which, yeah, I guess applies to the X-Men, too.

Memory learning catches a lot of flack these days. Informed educators are often quick to write off rote memorization as an unnecessary and even harmful exercise, instead preferring to teach creativity and problem solving. Your brain works hard every day, regulating your breathing, controlling your heart rate, helping you shout answers at the TV while “Jeopardy” is on. Isn’t it time you gave it a rest?
