Master Cleanse Essentials
For the last 15 years or so – literally since I was about 17, the various naturopaths I have seen have all told me the same thing. And that is, I need to do a detox to rid myself of all the years of bad food, alcohol and other bad things that I have put into my body that are still in my body now, 17 years later and are not getting out on their own.
When I heard that it meant not eating for days, sometimes weeks or being severely restricted, I thought, ‘hell no!’ I am not doing that. I guess I just wasn’t ready or focused enough to actually do it.
This Master Cleanse diet, was I think made ‘famous’ by Beyonce who did this to lose a fair bit of weight for a movie role. Now, I am definitely not saying I am doing this because she did it but it is how I first heard about it.
I will admit what did appeal to me about it is that all the ingredients which are involved, I love. Maple syrup is one of my favorite sweeteners so to be able to drink cup fulls each day was something I thought I could do.
There are many other detoxes that we can do and I may try them in the future but I want to try this first.
I am going to do it for ten days! I was thinking last night, this is going to be the most amazing and most difficult thing I have ever done. I mean, never before in my life except from being a baby have I not had solid food, maybe when I used to get sick years ago but not for ten days. In fact for a few days after I finish this syrup mix, I will actually just have green juices, so no solid food for 14 days I think!
Now, for those that know me, please dont think i am doing this to lose a drastic amount of weight, sure I would like to lose say 2 kgs but really its just about cleaning my mind and body out.
I have always felt like there is a mental energy block in my brain that just hasn’t been getting better.
Basically what the Master Cleanse involves is a daily routine of this:
First thing in morning doing a salt flush cleanse which involves 1 tablespoon of himalayn crystal salt in 2 liters of warm water. You drink this as quick as you can and wait until you can’t hold it in any longer and go to the loo – its not pretty people but this is the first part to literally flushing your body out!
Whilst you are waiting to rush to the loo, you can get your drink ready:
I prepare the whole days worth of the drink so that I can just keep going back to it throughout the day.
It is 2 liters of water (I use Alkaline water) and in that water you put in 14 tablespoons of Organic Grade B Maple Syrup and 14 tablespoons of organic freshly juiced/squeezed lemon juice and also 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper.
The Maple Syrup, whilst not raw, still contains lots of minerals and vitamins but mainly is for the taste and also to give you calories throughout the day. Its not many though, I read that the 2 litre amount = 550 calories. Some of you may be reading this and thinking oh my goodness that is so little but I look at it like this, some of the most wise and deeply grounded people fast regularly. Its in many cultures to do this often and people have always stressed how fantastic it is for your personal and spiritual development.
I just made my first batch and am drinking it now as I write this. Basically I will just be having drinks throughout the day and at the night I will have a laxative tea to help the digestive system and colon work better to release all the old junk that stored in there.
I love the taste of it, its very sweet yet spicy from the pepper but overall a very delicious drink. I probably put too much pepper in there and I think I want to hunt down sound liquid Cayenne pepper as is recommended in the video below.
