The Power of Gratitude
We all meet for a reason. There is a precious lesson hidden within each encounter. I also believe that once the lesson has been learnt, more often than not the people involved change and consequently take a different path. Those not ready to take a step forward will stay where they are, and it can be difficult for them to understand why others have left. We can be extremely good at taking things personally, our ego makes us believe that it is all about us. Well, it is not.
Every single day we are submerged into the ever-changing flow of life, which shapes us into who we will be tomorrow. Nothing stays the same, and we’d better get used to this phenomenon otherwise we will get hurt by our attachment to our past, to how things should be, to relationships, to our possessions and especially to our expectations. Would you agree when I say that one of the secrets of living a happy life is letting go of expectations? That way you will never be disappointed, and you will be able to see everything that comes your way as a wonderful gift. And when it comes to the past, sweet memories are true blessings, and replacing sadness for the time that has gone by with thankfulness for the opportunities we have been offered would make our days so much easier.
Gratitude is a way of life.
A few months ago I found a great free app called Thankful For which you may enjoy and find very useful. Taking everything for granted makes us blind to the beauty and abundance that fill our existence, and writing a Gratitude List every day can radically change the way we see the world and live life. If you haven’t yet, start your gratitude journal today.
