The HerbJar is a small range of handmade beauty products which are all based on truly natural ingredients.
What is really interesting about this range is that non of the products contain ANY water. If you pick up pretty much every product
you have, you will find that the first ingredient is water. It’s cheap and is a filler and this is why its in most things.
Luca, who created The HerbJar brand, saw problems with people using water in their products.
Mixing fats and other nutrients with water creates a hotbed for bacteria, fungi and moulds. Hence the need to add powerful preservatives to any water-based skin care product. The cosmetic industry has been trying to move towards “gentler preservatives”, but the truth is that preservatives are created to kill living things, and they will have a detrimental effect on living skin cells.
All Herbjar skin care products are water free. This is how we can keep all synthetic preservatives out of our formulations. While creams are best absorbed in the presence of water, it is not necessary for the water to be in the cosmetic jar. Applying water-free skincare products on damp or wet skin will give results as beneficial as an oil-and-water emulsion, while keeping your skin free of harmful chemicals.
As well as being natural, water-free skin care products are much better value for money. The typical water-based cream contains two thirds to three quarters water. With The Herbjar’s creams, you only need to use about a third as much of the product in each application as you would need with a water-based skin care product.
