Miss Eco Glam

About

Why did I start Miss Eco Glam? I had many years from the age of 13 being severely depressed, ill almost daily, with un-diagnosed chronic fatique and was therefore always caught up in negative thought patterns that were really destructive to my life. I never really understood the connection of negative thinking to what happens in your day to day life. I had no idea that I was helping cause this misery by thinking that way. I also had no idea that I was suffering from a very heavy build up of toxins in my body for a very long time. When I was 7 or 8, I painted my body with lead containing house paint (strange idea of fun I know!) when I was very young and had to remove it with Mineral Turpentine (highly toxic!) and now realise that was the start of causing my Chronic Fatigue which came out years later!

I am now on a mission to make people aware of the toxins in our environment we are exposed to on a daily basis. Did you know that as adults we are all carrying around many dangerous toxins in our bodies and if you have a child, the baby is born with the toxins in its blood stream too! Scary scary! It also took me a long time to realise that we all have the power to make our own lives amazing, it just comes down to having healthy thoughts, taking control of one’s own health by eating well and loving yourself and thinking that you ARE worth it. After reading many books such as ‘The Secret’, on the law of attraction, my life has never been the same. A lightbulb went off in my mind and suddenly I knew what power I had, what we all had.

Now that I have fixed that negativity and Ill health, I now want to help fix the negativity and sickness in the world. I hope that I can in some way, bring awareness to you about certain issues that really are important to face up to. And if I can get you to change a few things you do, perhaps buy mineral makeup, cut out using toxic skin and body products or start eating more raw foods or join a cause, then that is the most rewarding outcome for me. I am really into the Raw food Lifestyle, Organic & Sustainable clothing Fashion Industry, the importance of buying Fair trade, writing about animal and environmental issues, and many more things!

I love fashion and nice things but am well aware that the retail industry causes so many problems with our environment. Pollution, slave labour, even early deaths from production of organic fabrics and things like denim as well. When I found out about this, I vowed to make sure that I buy things that are ethical. It is a little more expensive yes, but you end up with better quality items that last longer. We can be fashionable and glamorous and Green too! I love reading books so will review the ones that come my way and wish to share with you! Films and Documentaries are another huge love of mine and I find that its one of the quickest ways to learn about something. I also have been involved in the modeling industry for the last few years. I have seen the fun side and the ugly side and I really do worry about our children growing up in this beauty obsessed world. I even wrote about my own insecurities I faced as a child – you can read about that here: HOW THIS ALL STARTED: From the age of about 19, I have always been super aware of the toxic chemicals in our food and our beauty products.

I went to a beauty therapy course through Aveda and was shocked at what I learnt! It really spoke to me and ever since then I have been trying to warn people about how toxic these products are. I want to learn about all the new products that are coming out, and see what is happening in the world with fair trade issues and positive global change. There are many serious and controversial issues that I am really passionate about. You may not share my views of them but I like to at least get the things that I am thinking about out there into the world and leave it as ‘food for thought’. It’s ok if we don’t all agree. I want people to start thinking more, and start investigating for yourself to find the truth. Don’t rely on others to tell you what to think, learn for yourself. The internet is full of amazing free information, you just need to be careful where you read it. My Health I have been a very tired, unwell and severely depressed person my whole life (even attempted suicide a few times but something always held me back from leaving this earth – luckily!) and subsequently have been on a mission to find out how to fix that. You name it and I have tried it! The Raw Food Lifestyle is just amazing for me and is changing my life. I am becoming healthier and stronger each day. I eat approx 80% raw food diet. 100% works for some but I prefer to mix in a few cooked dishes such as lentils or brown rice and veges. You have to find what works for you but Raw foods is a good place to start! I will share Raw recipes on here as well. Healthy organic food is really important to me. It’s truly amazing how life can be when you start to discover these things for yourself. Not only am I changing my health, its changing my mind. No longer do I have the debilitating depression I suffered with since my early teens. This way of eating truly is powerful. When you feed your body lots of enzymes and nutrients, it also feeds your brain in a way that cooked food can’t. I am also seeing this incredible Doctor, Dr Michael Kucera who also treats the Russian Astronauts! He has been working with them for the last 20 years and now sees people in Europe and here in the UK. Meeting him was also fate, I do know that. I have been seeing him for 6 months and the results have been incredible. I will be sharing more news about him soon when I can say that I am 100% cured. His treatment is pretty amazing and more people need to known about it! And, his treatment does not involve pharmaceutical medicine either! Other things about me In my ‘downtime’, I am an ‘Eco Model’ and when doing a photoshoot, I make sure that the brand I am promoting is an ethical brand. I will never model fur or leather! I am the face of St Erasmus Jewelery which is range that is hand made in India with lovely ladies who are treated well and paid fairly.

WHAT DOES MISS ECO GLAM MEAN? Miss Eco Glam means that we can still be glamorous and fashionable – but by being informed about purely ethical purchasing. It’s not that hard to start making a change and its not as expensive as you think. You know, we don’t need half as much stuff as we already have. Make better choices and buy better quality things that will last. The fashion and beauty industry really is very destructive to our environment (by polluting our waterways, degrading soil), it promotes slave labour in many countries all because we want cheap things, and its toxic to us from the cancer causing chemicals that are in the products and also in our clothing fabrics. It’s obvious many things are not right in our society because look at the cancer statistics! MY QUALIFICATIONS: I am a fully qualified Beauty Therapist (since 1996 – trained in Sydney, Australia) so have a pretty good range of practical knowledge of the skin and how it functions. I used to have a celebrity clientel including, Lisa Ho (very well known Aussie Fashion designer), Sarah O’Hare (aussie supermodel), and a number of Vogue Editors, in Sydney Australia when I worked at the famous Smyth + Fitzgerald Salon in Double Bay. I much prefer these days to review the treatments rather than give them! :) Thank you for joining me here at Miss Eco Glam! Just to let you know, I am just a regular girl who is very passionate about things but am certainly NOT an expert. Sometimes a Doctor’s advice is necessary for trying certain things as they may react with you in a different way than they did with me. Always be very careful with whatever you put on your skin and in your body! by the way, this pic of me is retouched – all of my modeling pics are – good lighting, good camera, great photographer and makeup and hair person – yep it takes all of those people to make me look ok I am definitely not perfect!
